The Complemented

I recently observed the trend in which people reject compliments. I've got to see that people refuse compliments, not because they want to, but because they don't believe it, and I can draw the reasons out from two factors: The Past and The People.  Now, let's break the former in bits, shall we... Some persons have gone through what I call 'Fake Compliments'.. a mockery coated in sweet words to applaud someone, but at the length of that discussion, the real poisonous word comes out. Let's take an everyday African discussion for example.. Ade:Wow, your dress is nice Sarah:Oh really, thank you.. I got them from this stall Ade:Lol, is that so.. no wonder Sarah: No wonder what? Ade: The colors don't really match, but they're good on you though.. I know you don't know a lot about fashion Sarah: so are you now saying I don't look good in it again? Ade: Not really Here, Ade's words have quenched a light in Sarah's mind. First, you get a compli...

Thoughts On My Desk

Thoughts on my Desk Why can't people admire Elegance and modesty? What is so interesting about being loose and unruly? What is admirable about being loud and disrespectful? What is?  Gone are the days when people admired the right things.. when girls were covered up and men had to marry them before they could even view their cleavages.. Gone are the days when guys were were found dressing and speaking respectfully, Mothers sang their praises.. So, I wondered what could have gone wrong now...  I then sat down to draw the map but it led me to one diagnosis, people prefer being puppets to what others want. Because look at it, oh, this behavior and fashion is celebrated.. it's out there thriving and mounting on top, so why can't I do same.. irrespective of the fact that it reduces my value in the eye of sensible precepts. They know it's very wrong but they do it anyway, for what? Pleasant commentaries that will only hang on social media? At the detriment of your value? At ...

Deja 'Recur'

What you sow, you will reap.. what you've done, your children will do same to you.. I turned to see this discussion from a parent to their child.. no, it wasn't a curse, it was gonna be that child's reality some day. You are acting all Gen Z baddie, disrespecting people, stepping on people's feet, living the large life.. Of course you should expect something grievous in the coming days Wanna escape from it, it can never be avoided.. but why? You ask.. It's cause this is one of the laws of life... the ones over you don't even have to say the words... cause in the future, everyone reaps what they sowed. So, I don't see this as a curse, so if it's said to me, and I check myself really well, I should know the possible outcome in the future. Although, many don't know the outcomes, they just go ahead to say God forbid, especially if they're in the wrong.. I laugh.. It can't be avoided.. the law of seed and harvest is a universal law. So it's al...

Admiration Thus Envy

When did we become ruthless people, people who think of only themselves. When did we come to that state of seeing other people's success as a bad thing. So, a person's growth, a person's talents, a person doing well for himself, becomes a problem to his neighbor that's not doing well. No, funny enough, and sadly at the same time, people have come to resent other people that do better than them. They coat their tongue with that popular saying, which sounds to them like encouragement.. "If he or she is doing well, I can do better.."  Oh Yes you can, but trying to outshine a person is no longer normal.. It is an abuse of the context of humanity. Do well! Try harder, live right, work hard.. But never make the mistake of weighing the reasons why you should be better than another. Everyone has got their race, everyone has got their individual purposes, and it might interest you to know that the height one reaches can never be your height because the beauty is, ever...

Small talk BIG Talk

In our world today, the Big talkers are considered to be the ones on Tech space, the ones that say what's going to be in the society. Whereas small talkers are the ones that are just there.  But when we talk about 'small talk' and 'Big talk' in quote, what do we really mean?  Well, there are different sides to this, we could choose to say small talks are casual talks like the 'How are you' and the 'what are your favorite dishes' Then we can also say small talks are negative talks that shouldn't be condoned, Yea, so many opinions on small talk  But whats the focus here, let me say this..  Conversations that don't leave you feeling happy, or conversations that make you want to go beyond yourself to please others, unwholesome chit chats that leave you dirty and worse off, are 'small talks' I call them small talks because they do less or no positive work in you. Take for instance, as a 12 year old, I noticed about that age that my mates...

PAPE: Introduction

Pape is a story of love, hatred, deception, poverty, guilt, betrayal, emotions, war and so much one soul could hoard.  Pape shows how one man could rise from hatred to loving.. It's a thriller you wouldn't wanna miss.. So make sure to catch up with the seasons as it comes. . ..... Sneak peak Yusuf glared at the  approaching silhouette everyone's eyes was casted upon. He was surrounded by the hefty men as though he was a theif (which he was, only that he hadn't stolen this time, he had rather betrayed the gang).   And so now he awaited his judgement from the gang leader, who happened to be someone he was very shocked to see.  All his life as a criminal, he knew the people he worked with, down to the last man in the group.  He had professionally worked with three criminal syndicates and knew who his bosses were. But this particular gang he was recruited to this time, was very different as he progressed with the team.  There were rules and regulations he ...

Life

At some point in our lives, we've wondered what the actual term 'Life' means. When you hang out with friends, pop that bottle, gotten naughty, went to that lively place, danced with your friends, yea, it's what you called life... But what is life? Life is beyond living to be happy, or taking every event too seriously.. Life is actually a phase where we have to show our presence and leave our marks. Life is not minding anyone who wants to change you from being you because you have to fit in Life is seeing every opportunity as a platform to give your best shot Life is sitting beside that window, drinking a cup of coffee, watching the sun rise and smiling because you're gonna make someone smile too Life is pulling out those old clothes and blessing someone with them, not because their old, but because you know people value Life is calling up that old friend and catching up on lost times Life is being in the place of prayer and finding solace Life is placing your hands...
